The purpose of Syngas is to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment by providing long-term, sustainable, circular solutions for rubber and petrochemical supply chains. The company uses sustainable and environmentally friendly recycling processes, combined with the latest and most advanced proven technology that establishes a circular economy for end-of-life tyres and rubber waste.
Mission
To be Africa’s leading contributor in creating a full ELT circular economy, using the most advanced European technology. Syngas will assist Africa to achieve its renewable objectives and will help to attract further investment through highly viable green project opportunities.
Vision
To roll out into Africa the best ELT recycling technology, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.
To address several of the UN SDGs (https://sdgs.un.org/goals), which include job creation and sustainable economic growth in Africa (SDG #8).
Management Team
Gerhard Pretorius Co-Founder & CEO
With 20+ years of experience within the food manufacturing industry, Gerhard completed the following qualifications:
- IMM (International Marketing Management) at Damelin College,
- Production and Procurement Management, and Logistics & Warehousing management at GIBS Business School.
With his deep-rooted passion for the environment, he made the decision to step into the end-of-life tyre recycling arena because the worldwide tyre pollution problem motivated him to seek a solution for South Africa and the rest of Africa.
Hannes Maree Co-Founder & Executive
With 35+ years of experience in business leadership, Hannes completed the following qualifications:
- BCom in Investment Management, a BCom Honours Investment Management and an MCom in Business Management at the University of Johannesburg.
During his career, he held senior and executive management positions in the banking and investment industries and has a proven track record of capability in business strategy, problem-solving, and critical analysis.
More recently, he has focused on the development of projects addressing the climate change challenges the world is facing, with the aim of helping to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment, food security, job creation and sustainable economic growth in Africa.
